MATT Blackmore has realised his dream of becoming Droitwich Spa RFC First XV captain.
Fly half Blackmore, top points scorer in Midlands Three West (South) last season, takes over from Nick Irwin, returning to his native New Zealand after two years with the team.
Blackmore was elected at the Memorial Ground club's annual general meeting last month.
And director of rugby Julian Bailey is sure he will do a good job.
He said: "He's wanted to be captain for years. He's always putting his name forward, he's really keen to do it and I have got all the confidence that he will lead from the front. I am sure he will be a good asset for us."
Nick Godfrey will be vice-captain.
Former captain Irwin is due to head home this summer.
Bailey added: "We will really miss his presence and leadership. I think he brought the best out of the youngsters and even the older ones who saw his commitment."
The club is also searching for a new coach to replace Neil Evans. Anyone interested can call 01905 771919.
