THE report last week, expressing joy at the news of new health plans for Droitwich Spa, failed to mention that this is a venture pioneered by Wychavon. The scheme was created, and is entirely dependent upon investment of reserves by the District Council to bring it about.
I would like to congratulate Cllr Malcolm Meikel, who set up the process when leader of the council, for his vision. Also Cllr Mrs Judith Pearce who has worked tirelessly with her officer team to rescue the scheme when it looked like Government support was going to be withdrawn.
This project has been widely supported, and some of us have made a small contribution to its success. But the real credit must go to these two councillors who actually made it happen. I am sure the people of Droitwich Spa will be delighted with the result of their efforts.
Councillor Pam Davey
Vice-chairman
