BROADWAY veterans contested the Harvey Cup for men aged 55 and over in a bid to win a trophy presented to the club by past captain Fred Harvey.
His intention was to give some of the "golden oldies" a chance to win some silverware in a competition with extra added bonus points for age.
Tony Gisbourne's early card of 38 points plus three for age (70) looked promising until Bob Crockford and Aubrey Clarke, both 40 plus two, took over at the top of the leader board.
However, Peter Dyke, claiming no extra shots for age, returned home with 42 points to take the trophy with a better back nine.
The Joe Steward Trophy saw 41 pairs in competition in a fourball betterball qualifier for the Savery Cup.
Terry Sandals and James Burke recorded the best score of the day with 44 points to join the other seven qualifiers.
