TWO teenage brothers have become the subjects of Droitwich's ground-breaking first and second anti-social behaviour orders (ASBOs).
Worcester magistrates imposed the two-year orders -- with immediate effect -- on Anthony Edward Bonehill, 18, and Marc Brian Bonehill, 17, (pictured) both of Meadow Road, last Friday.
The court found it necessary to protect Spa residents from any further anti-social acts by the Bonehill brothers, whose behaviour had previously caused distress.
The ASBOs prohibit them from causing harassment, alarm or distress, using foul or abusive language or gestures -- or inciting anyone to do so. They are also forbidden from playing, kicking or throwing footballs in a specified area, and from causing harassment, alarm and distress in such a manner.
Both brothers are banned from entering or loitering within 25 metres of the Fox and Goose pub, in Farmers Way, Droitwich. Marc Bonehill is also prohibited from going within 25 metres of four other areas -- including W Humphries and Son in St Andrews Square, Droitwich High School, Charland Court and Westlands Shopping Precinct.
If either brother flouts any part of his ASBO he could face prison for up to five years, a substantial fine, or both.
Police warn further ASBOs are "in the pipeline" as they use the latest legislation to tackle the problem in Droitwich.
Inspector Steve Brooker said: "The ASBOs relate to two long-standing ringleaders in anti-social behaviour in Droitwich. With more ASBOs in the pipeline, we are hopeful that this will see a new era with regard to this type of problem in the town.
"The first two have effectively removed Anthony and Marc Bonehill from what are historically areas well known for anti-social behaviour in the town.
"Equally importantly, they also send out a clear message to other youths and young men who we have had to deal with on a number of occasions and whose parents we have written to informing them of their anti-social behaviour."
PC Lloyd Buffery added: "The police have worked closely with the law-abiding community and our partners in the town to bring about the imposition of these orders and we all look forward to the effect they will have, both on the brothers and their known associates."
