FELINE like you need a new challenge? Then step forward and lend a helping hand to Worcester and District Cats Protection.
Volunteers Week kicked off yesterday and runs until next Monday, so there has never been a better time to offer much-needed support to the organisation, which re-homes lost, abandoned and homeless cats.
With up to 60 cats in the branch's care at any one time, there are many felines in need of residents to provide regular food, water, play, affection, veterinary care, cleaning and grooming.
Every year, the branch gives more than 300 cats a second chance in life, thanks to volunteers who do all of the rescue and re-homing work. Cats Protection ensures every cat gets all the care it needs before going to a new home. Volunteers of all ages are being urged to join the organisation to help cats in need and promote feline welfare. They will learn new skills, gain confidence and make new friends.
Zo Jenner Jones, from Worcester and District Cats Protection, explained: "It doesn't matter if people are unable to care for cats directly, or don't have masses of time. It's commitment, enthusiasm and a love of animals that are important.
"We have a range of volunteer opportunities, so we can normally match people's interests and available time to the tasks on offer. Contact us to find out how rewarding being a volunteer for our branch can be."
