It's hard to know what to say about this film, 15 minutes into it and I was ready to switch it off because I was really bored.
Okay, it was setting the scene to what became, as it said on the cover, a truly bizarre film which left this viewer totally confused.
Charlotte Rampling plays Sarah, a best-selling murder-mystery writer who goes to her publisher's holiday home in France in search of fresh inspiration.
Not long after arriving, Sarah's peace and quiet is interrupted by the arrival of her publisher's daughter, the very sexy, sassy and easy-living Julie (Ludivine Sagnier).
The pair clash terribly as Sarah is left stunned by Julie's one-night stands and reckless lifestyle.
But a dramatic turn of events soon bring the pair together and the film moves towards its conclusion which leaves you asking what, eh?
It's a twist alright but one I couldn't quite unravel, which annoys me.
Was it all in her imagination? Did any of it happen? You will be left wondering.
