THE family and friends of a three-year-old Studley boy with Leukaemia are holding an event to raise money for his hospital ward.

Members of the Studley Rainbow Fund are raising money to buy much-needed sterile equipment for the cancer ward at the Diana, Princess of Wales Children's Hospital, Birmingham.

The boy was diagnosed with the blood disorder in September and has undergone a bone marrow transplant.

The event, on Saturday, July 10, will feature a toddlerthon, as well as a vintage tractor display, beauty tent and shire horse riding.

Visitors can also enter a balloon-release event with the chance of winning champagne and a hot-air balloon ride.

One of three organisers of the Rainbow Fund, Kaye Deacon, said Studley shops had rallied around to sell balloons in advance of the event.

Synergie Hairdressers, in particular, had offered their support and had raised more than £90 in two days.

The event will take place from 2-5pm at the car boot sale site on Jill Lane, Studley.
