WHEN the hundreds of Irish people who live in Redditch gather together, what is guaranteed is an abundance of events which will incorporate fun, music, laughter and a rich history.
Since last year, the Redditch Irish Society has been raising funds for its chosen charity, the children's ward at the Alexandra Hospital.
During its recent Irish Cultural Festival Week, the society handed over a cheque for £1,000 to Pat Hadley from the hospital's League of Friends.
The society's main aims are to help people understand and enjoy the rich cultural heritage of Ireland, to bring comfort and help to any disadvantaged members of its community in the town and to give the Irish of Redditch a voice.
Each year, it organises events and takes part in carnivals and the St Patrick's Day parade in Birmingham.
This year, members will be raising cash for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Anyone who would like to get involved can call chairman Bill Smith on 550172.
