INCONSIDERATE drivers who park across pavements or block roads in Studley might think twice from October as new parking wardens are due to hit the streets.
'Decriminalised parking' legislation will mean that from October 1 onwards, powers to ticket drivers for parking offences will be handed from Warwickshire Police to Stratford Council.
District councillor and parish council chairman Bill McCarthy said congested roads such as the narrow High Street and Alcester Road through the village could improve radically with regular patrols from traffic wardens.
"This is something which has been coming up for some time," said Mr McCarthy.
"Studley has never had wardens and parking enforcement has been done by the police in the past.
"But from October 1 there should be traffic wardens coming out to the village.
"All money gained from fines will go directly into the county council's transport budget."
Mr McCarthy added: "Studley does suffer from bad parking, like a lot of places, but not much gets done about it.
"We get a lot of pavements being parked on and I've seen pavements completely blocked by cars.
"High Street is one area people complain about a lot but the A435 can be bad too - but of course there haven't been any wardens about."
