A WORCESTER IT company has bought out a London broadband company.
Serv-IT Ltd, based in Blackpole, has announced its Air-Band service will replace the service of Whisper Broadband Ltd, which recently went into liquidation. Whisper Broadband, which was based in London, serviced several areas in the Cotswolds.
"We made the decision to take on the assets of Whisper Broadband Ltd as the areas it serviced were devastated on the withdrawal of their broadband," said Rob King, project manager for Serv-IT.
"As a company we are very passionate about Worcester and we are striving to put Worcester on the broadband map. We have wireless nodes now in Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Shropshire."
Air-Band is different to the traditional broadband internet service, which is transmitted via underground telephone cables, in that the signals are transmitted through the air.
"Broadband is of paramount importance for any business in order to attain and maintain a competitive edge, especially for those in IT, and Media", added Mr King.
