GOLF: Joe Ferguson and James Toman tied in the Worcestershire County Strokeplay Championships at Redditch.
The Kidderminster Golf Club pair will have an 18-hole play-off after they could not be separated, with both shooting a 36-hole total of 149.
Ferguson opened with a 77 but rallied to close with a 72, while Stourport's Toman shot a closing 77 to go with his 72.
Although the play-off date is unknown due to Ferguson's commitments in other tournaments, Kidderminster are guaranteed only their second ever winner.
Richard Wassell, currently assistant professional, was the youngest winner of the title in the late 1990s.
Sixth-placed Chris Bromley was the first-round leader after a 71 and was expecting to do well but he came in with an 81 to lose by three shots.
Former champion Paul Scarrett (Blackwell) was third with rounds of 76 and 74.
Promising juniors Adam Norman, of Moseley, and last year's champion Richard Guerney, of King's Norton, were fourth and fifth respectively on 151 and 152.
Ferguson, meanwhile, claimed the U-21s colts championship and the GD Carr Cup for best 36-hole and team score.
Kidderminster's B team, made up of Luke Rogers, Steven Clarke and Aubrey Pearson, won the Jubilee Shield.
The As were fourth in the Tompson-James Cup, failing to match their tag of favourites by losing out to eventual winners Kings Norton.
Ferguson and Toman were joined by Kidderminster-based county captain Matt Houghton in the line-up.
Set to play in the English Amateur Championships, Cleobury Mortimer's Ferguson has risen to sixth in the amateur order of merit.
