ROWING: Two Bewdley Rowing Club crews reached the later stages of their events at the National Schools Championships on Saturday.
Four Bewdley teenagers, Andy Jarvis, Alex Holden-Smith, Graham Glen and Tom McNeil, coxed by Sian Thompson, finished fifth in their semis.
They had qualified by coming second in their heat at the 2,000 metre Nottingham course in seven minutes 37.26 seconds.
But they then struggled with an awkward headwind and dropped to 8-09.41 at the next stage.
Fellow 17-year-old Richard Jackson was first in his opening single scull round, clocking 9-01.30.
Although Jackson put in a good final performance, he had to be content with fourth in 9-34.99.
Both crews recently recorded impressive double victories at the Shrewsbury Regatta.
