KIDDERMINSTER Harriers favourite Craig Hinton has quit the club and signed for Third Division rivals Bristol Rovers on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old, who has been at the Aggborough club for six years, rejected the offer of a new two- year contract from Kiddeerminster manager Jan Molby, instead opting for a two-year deal with Rovers.
"I'm obviously disappointed he's going to be leaving," said Molby.
"But I understand and respect his decision. I would have loved to have kept him but the offer we made him was less than is currently earning," said the Aggborough boss.
"I understand Bristol made him a decent financial offer and, especially at this level of football, you have to look after number one."
Hinton, a former club captain, joined Harriers in August 1998 following his release by Birmingham City and proved a key figure in helping the club establish themselves in the Football League following their Conference promotion.
