HEAD teachers of two Wyre Forest schools are hoping to come top of the class after being shortlisted in an awards competition.
David Seddon, of Baxter College, and Tom Revell, of Sladen CE Middle School, are among contenders in the Teaching Awards 2004's West Midlands section.
Mr Seddon and Mr Revell have both been nominated for the Promethean Award for head teacher of the year.
The regional ceremony will be held at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, in Warwickshire on Tuesday, June 15.
Heads, teachers and teaching assistants from across the West Midlands will be honoured during the presentations event, which will be hosted by BBC Midlands television presenter, Nick Owen.
Regional winners and commended entrants will be judged in categories including outstanding new teacher, teacher of the year in a primary school and teacher of the year in a secondary school.
West Midlands winners, who receive a £2,000 cash grant for their schools, plus £1,000 of ICT equipment, will be invited to attend the Teaching Awards 2004 national ceremony.
That takes place in October and will be televised by the BBC in November.
