A NEW scheme to take professional live arts to village halls and community venues has the support of Wyre Forest District Council.
The initiative - Shindig - unites all the councils across Worcestershire and Arts Council England in offering a range of subsidised tours.
Art forms showcased will include theatre, music, opera and dance.
Voluntary groups, such as village hall committees, community associations, parish councils and parent teacher associations, can host the touring performers.
"This is a fantastic night out for residents on their doorstep," said Anne Langford, Worcestershire County Council's assistant county arts officer.
Groups are being invited to bid for a Shindig visit during the next year but applications should be made by Monday, July 5.
More information on Shindig is available from Anne Langford on 01905 728665 or 07876 155079, or from Sue Roberts, Shindig co-ordinator, on 01544 327877.
