A CHARITY from Pershore is celebrating its 20th anniversary after helping thousands of people across the town and surrounding villages.
The Volunteer Help Centre was formed in 1984 and since then it has helped transport the elderly or immobile to hospital appointments, GPs surgeries and shopping trips.
Last year alone, drivers from the group made more than 4,000 journeys in and around the town, covering a total of 46,000 miles.
The charity is holding a civic service in Pershore Abbey at 2pm on Sunday, June 6, to commemorate its work over the past two decades. The event is open to everyone.
The volunteer group is also holding a community lunch on Friday, June 11, at Wychavon District Council's Civic Centre, providing a chance to meet members of other organisations and there will also be a guest speaker.
Tickets are available by calling Kate Walton or Ann Atherton on 01386 556080.
