Come and be entertained by our local talented musicians. Tickets are available on the door, adults £5, children £2.50 and family £12, to include a drink and nibbles. The merry making continues on Saturday evening at the parish hall with a Jane Austen ceilidh, dance the dances of Pride and Prejudice to authentic music, Regency dress optional. A ploughman's supper and a glass of wine is included in the ticket price of adults £6, children £3, family £15, tickets available on the door and the time is 8pm for 8.30pm. The Patronal festival service is at 11am followed by a parish lunch. Everyone most welcome.
Starting on Thursday, June 10, a six week adult course of French conversation using the BBC book The French Experience. There is a choice of either a morning class at 10am or an evening class at 8pm, every Thursday, the cost £30 per person for six weeks. The classes will be run by Veronique Yapp at her home in the village. Please ring (01531) 640160 for more information. An ideal opportunity to improve your French before the holiday season. Veronique was born and bred in France and moved to the village three years ago with her young family.
Next Sunday, June 13, is our open gardens fundraising day. Hopefully our signs and posters and other publicity will attract visitors to the village. Eight gardens will be open from 11am-6pm. Tickets will be on sale at the village hall from 11am. Also in the hall, trade stands, tickets for the gardening draw and refreshments including home-made cakes. The gardens open vary from flower and vegetable cottage gardens to park-like gardens with species trees, roses and shrubs. One with a small area of woodland has a pond and wild garden to encourage birds, toads and hedgehogs to help with pest control, another a tranquil walled garden with a fountain, two lakes populated with ducks and geese (watch out for duckling and goslings) together with some carp. There is also a woodland walk.
Did you know that Bosbury has its very own Hortus Conclusus planted over 30 years ago? This year's top prize at the Chelsea Flower Show went to a garden inspired by a similar theme. All of the eight gardens have hidden depths and we hope you will bring friends and family to visit the gardens. All proceeds will be shared between the church and the village hall.
Bosbury School's 100 Club has recently started another year. The club is an effective, essential fundraiser for the school and over the years has purchased play and other equipment for the benefit of all the children. If you would like to join, please contact Angela Mowbray via the school. The next major fundraising for the school will be its annual summer fete on Sunday, June 27, 2-4pm. Make a note of the date now and come to enjoy the barbecue, sports day, stalls and other activities.
Bosbury and Coddington Parish Council is looking for a keen walker and fresh air enthusiast to take on the responsibility of a footpaths officer for Bosbury and Coddington. All maps and equipment will be provided. Please contact the parish clerk, Mrs Linda Sinker on (01531) 640420 for more information.
