HURRY along to Powick church fete tomorrow (Saturday) at Powick Parish Hall and grounds. Opening at noon for light lunches, there will be lots of activities - including bouncy castle, tombola and raffle. For sale will be cakes, toys, books, produce and plants, bric-a-brac, nearly new, ice cream and cream teas. Live music during the afternoon will be provided by Single Reeds. All proceeds are for the facilities fund at Powick Church to provide toilet and kitchen facilities.

A first for Powick is an open gardens event on Sunday when 11 gardens in the village will be open to the public. Parking is available at the Coach House, Kings End Lane, where entry tickets (£3 adults, £1 children) and maps will be available. The gardens are open from noon and refreshments will be available at the Coach House and Sandpits Farm. The event is organised by Powick Playing Field Association.

A companion (exemption) dog show and fun day is being held on Sunday from 10.30am onwards at the Worcestershire Animal Rescue Centre at Hawthorn Lane, Deblins Green.

Powick Parish Ramblers had a local walk of five miles around Powick on Wednesday led by Chris Evans. Next Wednesday, June 9 there will be an evening walk of four miles around Kempsey led by Peter Harris. For more information ring (01905) 830628. Please meet at Kempsey Church at 6.30pm. Book the date of Friday, June 18 for Powyke WI's Midsummer Madness, an evening of strawberries and wine. This will take place at 86 Malvern Road, Powick, courtesy of Edna Jenkins, from 7pm. In addition there will be a raffle, and stalls selling local produce and craft items made and donated by WI members. Tickets are £3 and proceeds are in aid of local charities. Everyone welcome.
