THE Old Vicarage, Upleadon is the venue for the annual Upleadon church fete on Saturday, June 19. This is by kind invitation of Mr and Mrs D R Stewart. The fete will be opened at 3pm. There are village competitions - bake a victoria sponge, write a poem called Upleadon fete, create a picture of an Upleadon scene. There is also a children's fancy dress competition - Your Favourite Television Character. There will be a parade and judging after the opening ceremony. Contact Ms Barbara Dunn on (01452) 840674 for entry rules. As well as the competitions, there will be numerous delightful stalls fully stocked, a barbecue, strawberry and cream teas and soft drinks. On Sunday, the service in St Mary the Virgin Church in Upleadon will be an 8.30am service of Holy Communion. The Reverend Dr Peter Newing will be the celebrant. On June 13 there will be evening prayer with Mrs Jessie Williams and the Reverend Keith Bruton. This is at 6pm.
