THE manager of a restaurant in Worcester is hoping someone remembers to feed the sharks before he swims with them for charity.
Martin Gormley, who is an experienced scuba diver, will take the plunge into an aquarium filled with several species of the man-eaters, including the aggressive Sand Tiger Sharks, after his wife Nicola arranged the "treat" for his 38th birthday.
Mr Gormley, who runs the Ye Olde Talbot Hotel, in Friar Street, thought this would be a good opportunity to raise money for the NSPCC.
"Having a five-year-old child and another on the way, the NSPCC is something that I am interested in," he said.
"When you go scuba diving there is always something that you want to move on to.
"Sharks have always been creatures that have interested me. It is going to be an adrenaline rush."
Mr Gormley's underwater adventure will take place at the Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire Oaks, near Liverpool, on Saturday, July 17.
Some of the predators that he will come face-to-face with grow up to 10ft in length, weigh up to 26 stones and all have a full set of sharp teeth.
However, before he spends up to an hour with the killers of the sea he will spend most of the day learning about them.
"There will be an introduction session about sharks, their living habits and feeding habits - especially there feeding habits.
"I am hoping they will be fed before we get in the water."
Staff at the restaurant will be collecting donations from customers but if anyone wishes to make a contribution they can do so by calling 01905 23573.
