A DAZZLING dance class has an extra spring in its step after being wired for sound courtesy of a cash injection from the Making A Difference Appeal.

Worcester Freestyle Dance Club found itself out on a limb when its old stereo packed up, leaving instructor Shauna Thompson faced with the difficult prospect of putting up the monthly fees.

But to her surprise, one of her "brilliant" young dancers, Jade Bayer, came to the rescue by writing in to the Evening News and Round Table campaign, asking for £200 towards an £800 CD player with speed changer.

"We were struggling to pay for a new stereo, which has to be ordered specially because of the variable speeds we need for freestyle," said Mrs Thompson.

"We don't make any money - just enough to cover the cost of the room - but I never thought of writing in to the appeal.

"Jade didn't even tell us she was putting in for it and just turned up to class one night saying 'I've got a surprise for you'.

"But that's Jade for you. She's a great girl and we'd like to say a big thank you to her."

Jade, who has won a few cups for her freestyle talent over the last decade, was overjoyed her request had been accepted.

"Freestyle is a good hobby and helps get young children off the streets and gives them something to do," said the 16-year-old, who starts Worcester Sixth Form College in September. "But of course, we couldn't dance without music."

Fifty dancers from the gymnastic-style dance club, which trains seven hours a week for competitions, will benefit from the contribution.
