Concrete blocks used to replace the sleepers at either end of Upton's weight-restricted viaduct had to be moved further apart just days after they were installed.
Worcestershire County Council put the taller blocks in exactly the same position as the sleepers.
However, the perception of drivers was that they were closer together and traffic flow was reduced.
As a result, the bridge was closed for a short period last week to move the blocks slightly further apart.
The county council was due to announce today (Friday) who will get the contract to build the new viaduct.
Malvern Hills District Council will decide on June 16, whether to grant permission for Boye Meadow Caravan Park to be relocated before work can begin on the temporary diversion road.
