A truly memorable day is the best way to describe the recent first reunion of former pupils of the Malvern Link Church of England Primary School.
It was over 50 years since I had met many of my old school friends and it was with some apprehension that I made the 200-mile journey from Eastbourne; I need not have worried, as the whole affair was most enjoyable.
The organising committee had laid on a full programme, including a service at St Matthias, where the church was practically full; a tour of the school, with many members of staff and current pupils being present; a marching band (by courtesy of Malcolm Fish) gave a polished performance in the afternoon sunshine.
For my wife and I the school choir stole the show with some songs from the sixties (and earlier). The day was rounded off with a barbecue and dance held at Dyson Perrins School.
All such events require a lot of organising and a tremendous thank you must go to Malcolm Fish and his committee, including Barbara Jones, Dave Collins and many others. Thank you all for turning back the clock for a few, most pleasant hours.
BILL CRUMP, Eastbourne (Formerly of Merick Road, Malvern Link).
