DUMBLETON beat Colwall in this Stroud and Swindon WEPL Glos and Wilts Division one game.
COLWALL v DUMBLETON
Colwall won the toss and batted. Early boundaries from each opener promised well, but as both perished caught at slip and by the keeper the promise was not fulfilled. Nick Panniers and Tim Riley came and went in a flash. Matt Fortnum played very well in a patiently constructed 34 as the ball continued to swing and seam. He found good support in Steve Ferguson who scored his first home league 50. Together they added 50 and added impetus to the Colwall innings. A final score of 167 was respectable but well under the hoped for score.
Dumbleton set off quickly, right hander Boorman severe on anything loose. With close catchers still set the scoreboard hummed with activity as boundary followed boundary.
Nick Panniers cam on and he restricted the scoring and when Sutton joined the attack the game returned to normality.
A couple of half chances went begging before Sutton induced Sharp to mishit to Lee Hankins at mid on. Tom Wolfendale picked up the wicket of Boorman caught behind by Fergusson and for a few overs Colwall applied pressure.
However, sensible batting from Dumbleton's third wicket pair saw them comfortably home.
