A BUSY bank holiday weekend saw Worcester Nomads first and second XI's notch up a win and a draw apiece against Hagley and Kidderminster Victoria.
Nomads were too strong for Hagley, enjoying comfortable victories home and away.
Inspired by three wickets apiece from Ollie Butterworth and Darren Lakin, the first XI restricted Hagley to 142, with only Steve Genner (52) showing any resistance. In reply Malcolm Jones (55) and Simon Harris (49no) completed a nine-wicket win.
The second XI result went the same way, with Nomads knocking off the 157 needed with time to spare. Honours went to W Smith with the ball (4-43) and C Bland with a steady 48 in reply.
Against Kidderminster Victoria on Bank Holiday Monday, where close fought draws were the order of the day.
Playing at home, the first XI declared on 269-6 with Malcolm Jones (60) and Simon Harris (73) again starring.
After a slow start, Kidderminster rallied with a solid 92 from Mitchell almost carrying the day, but Darren Lakin (4-59) brought the match to a tense draw.
It was pretty much the same with the second XI where Nomads couldn't quite overhaul the 225 to win. Despite extra overs and strong batting from D Pearson (86) and I Jinks (31), Nomads were just unable to hit the six runs needed off the last over.
Meanwhile, in a Sunday friendly, a young and improving Nomads Second XI were defeated by a strong Crowle side.
A fine knock of 60 by Alex Isaacs helped Nomads reach 132, but this proved insubstantial against some dominant batting from Jobson (37) and Jessop (24), helping Crowle to a comfortable six-wicket win.
