SKIPPER Wayne Hatswell wants to reward Kidderminster Harriers' supporters next season by scoring more goals.

The 29-year-old central defender was such a favourite with the fans last term that he scooped three of the Nationwide League Division Three club's five end-of-season awards.

Among them was the Supporters' Player of the Year award which was a richly deserved reward for his untiring efforts following a move to Aggborough from Chester City last October.

And now Hatswell wants to repay the fans for the way they backed him each week by getting his name on the scoresheet more often.

Last term he netted twice in 36 appearances - a tally he would desperately like to improve on next season.

Campaigner

The Swindon-born campaigner said: "I enjoy my relationship with the fans, but I'd really like to score more goals. That would be the ideal way for me to repay them, but I'm glad the supporters like me.

"When you're doing well it's nice that they take notice."

Hatswell, who was appointed captain within a week of his arrival at Aggborough, enjoys leading the team by example and is looking forward to doing the same again next season.

He said: "I do shout a lot to players during the game, but like with a lot of teams we have 11 captains out there sometimes.

"We all have our own individual contributions but sometimes, though, I'm dominant because I want to play well and therefore I want the team to follow that example."
