WORCESTER Triathlon Club member Michelle Parsons (pictured right) struck gold when she took part in the World Age Group Duathlon Championships in Geel, Belgium.
Michelle won the age 35-39 category after two runs of 10 kilometres and 5k, plus a 40k bike ride on a relatively flat course in good weather conditions. She also finished second in the overall women's race.
The Worcester club had three other competitors at the event, with Michelle's husband Phil finishing 28th in 35-39 race and Les Bailey taking ninth spot in the men's 65-69 section.
Maureen Burrows also made the trip to Belgium but was unwell on the day of the competition and unable to race.
