THE Malvern Hills will be the dramatic subject for an exhibition of new work.

Five artists from the area are exhibiting their paintings of the hills and surrounding landscape at the Foalyard Gallery in Bransford.

Four painters, Tia Lambert, Ian Sherman, Angie Hill and Anne Walker, and Annie Rie, a stained glass artist, have come together to offer their view of Malvern's dramatic landscape.

A keen walker from Malvern, Tia Lambert has been teaching watercolour and basic painting skills at Malvern Hills College for about 10 years. Between eight and ten of her works, in a combination of watercolour and pen and ink, will be on show at the gallery.

Anne Walker also teaches at Malvern Hills College but does a lot of work abroad. She has returned from a painting trip to America. Anne works in mixed media, including tissue paper, ink and even burning bits of paper, as well as paints. Two of her landscapes of Malvern will be exhibited.

Ian Sherman, Angie Hill and Annie Rie come from north Gloucestershire and their work shows the hills as they are looking back towards Malvern.

"All of the artists live in and around the shadow of the hills and cannot but be influenced by the dramatic landscape," said gallery co-ordinator Anna Brook. "The work is quite contemporary with a modern approach to the landscapes.

"It's really going to be a wonderful exhibition, full of the atmosphere of the hills."

The exhibition, entitled Landmarks, starts tomorrow (Saturday) and runs until August 14 and is open from 9am-5pm.
