WORCESTER Wolves' new player Richard Onions is set to be a crowd-pleaser predicts the man who signed him.

Director of basketball Mick Donovan has snapped up the 24-year-old to add experience to Wolves following their promotion to National League Division One.

"He's very quick and mobile," said Dovovan. "A lot of big lads are immobile but he's quick and we're really excited. The crowd are going to like him.

"They like fast play and he plays at speed. I think Worcester people will really take to him.

"He's the second or third player, following the likes of Rikki Prince and Wayne Robinson, who left the league above to come and play for us because of the crowds and atmosphere we get at Worcester."

Onions stands 6ft 5in, has European experience with French side St Genis and has played for Birmingham Bullets in the Premier Division during 2002-03.

He played for Birmingham University in NBL Division Three and was selected to play for English Universities three years in a row and named MVP at the British Universities Games in 2002.

Onions switched to Walsall Wizards last season.

"He's going to bring experience and confidence on court," added Donovan. Playing in National League Division One is going to be a big step up for some of our lads but he's familiar with the pressure. Also be-cause of his size he can play as shooter but also help out on rebounds, both of-fensively and defensively."
