MALVERN Priory's Organ Restoration Fund will benefit from a concert by California's Gold Coast Concert Chorus.

Musicians from the Malvern-based English Symphony Orchestra will accompany the GCCC when it performs as part of a European tour.

The choir provides choral experience for singers who would like to expand their musical knowledge and ability.

It will be accompanied by conductor Kenneth Helms.

Tour spokesman Annabel Moorhouse said: "It's hoped that as the concert is to raise money for the fund, there will be local interest in attending."

The repertoire includes work by Gabriel Faur, Morten Lauridsen's Requiem and Lux Aeterna.

The restoration fund commenced in October 2000 and now only a few thousand is needed to reach the target of £375,000. Work began on the organ in September and completion is expected shortly.

Malvern Priory will play host to the concert on Wednesday, July 7, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 from Malvern Tourist Office on 01684 892289 or on the door.
