MALVERN Rugby Club has made a significant new signing to the coaching staff at Spring Lane.

Liam Middleton, of the Hartpury College Rugby Academy, has agreed to join Paul Essenhigh on the Malvern staff. Middleton comes with a pedigree that includes coaching the England U19 squad and the current Zimbabwe 7's side. Previously also involved at Ledbury, Middleton is seen by Malvern director of rugby David Robins as a valuable addition to the team's quest for promotion back to Midlands One.

"Liam has a wealth of experience and several of his Hartpury players have gone on to greater things, notably at the Gloucester Academy.

"His youth coaching at England will be particularly useful in the light of our new U19 team at Malvern, which will train on Tuesdays and Thursdays alongside the senior squad.

"Gareth Richards will continue to assist, especially with coaching the backs, and we anticipate the enhanced coaching set up will enable us to work on individual skills far more."
