MALVERN College's cricket team leaves for Ireland this weekend for a cricket festival in the Dublin area.

The festival will consist of competitive matches between Malvern College, Rugby and Charterhouse schools and a school team from the Leinster Cricket Association, who are hosting the festival.

Matches will take place at various club grounds in and around Dublin including Phoenix, Merrion, Leinster, Clontarf, Malahide, The Hills, and North County cricket clubs.

Malvern College housemaster and former Hampshire cricketer Andy Murtagh said: "The Malvern team is in good heart having won the Chesterton Cup and defeated the old enemy, Shrewsbury by seven wickets the other day.

"We have a strong three-spinner attack with Ollie Griffiths our leading player with both bat and ball. We are looking forward to taking on the Irish and the other schools."
