BUSINESS leaders from Worcestershire are looking forward to supporting a fund-raising event at Worcester Cathedral.
Richard Soper, managing director of Worcester Bosch, felt his company could not miss out on attending The Big Event, which aims to raise £50,000 for The Worcester Appeal for Music and Light.
"It is a privilege for Worcester Bosch to support this prestigious event.
"With our roots being in Worcester for over 40 years, we wish all success to the Cathedral's appeal in achieving its target and hitting the right note," he said.
Christine Jones, chief executive of the Chamber of Commerce, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said it was vital that businesses played their part in supporting the Cathedral, not only for its cultural and historical value but also for its impact on the county's economy.
"Visitors come to Worcester for a whole host of reasons," said Mrs Jones.
"But high on a lot of peoples' list must surely be Worcester Cathedral for its stunning architecture, its history and its religious significance.
"Visitors bring a lot of money into the county - it is our third largest industry - and so the value of the Cathedral and other historic landmarks should not be overlooked in terms of the region's economy and long-term prosperity."
More than 1,000 people are expected to attend The Big Event, which takes place on Thursday, October 28.
