THE reputations of Worcestershire county councillors are on line this month for the reality web game I'm a Councillor-Get Me Out of Here!
Four councillors will be hoping to depose current champion John Buckley, who is councillor for the Worcester St Martin Ward, in the initiative to help youngsters take an interest in local politics.
Students will monitor the councillors' views and responses to questions posed by them on their PCs over the next couple of weeks who visit the Get Me Out of Here! website and the councillors who provide the least satisfactory answers will be voted off.
Alternatively, if the councillors are finding the competition too hot they can hit the eject button and cry: 'I'm a councillor- Get Me Out of Here!
Elgar Technology College, Bishop Perowne, Prince Henry's in Evesham, Evesham High, Bewdley High, Stourport High and Kidderminster College are just some of the 15 schools taking part.
Maggie Bryan, area democracy officer for Worcestershire County Council, said the game was launched to coincide with Local Democracy Week, which takes place from Monday, October 18 to Sunday, October 24.
"There has been a lot of interest and we hope it can show young people that they can really make a difference with local democracy.
"It is a three week long competition and once again John Buckley will be defending his title against four new challengers."
The winner will be finally unveiled on Friday, October 22.
This year Coun Liz Eyre, of Broadway, Coun Adrian Hardman, of Bredon, Coun Howard Martin, of Wyre Forest, Hoobrook and Coun Diane Thomas of Redditch's Church Hill ward will be challenging for the title.
