A WORCESTER charity has received a welcome monetary boost thanks to Sun Valley Foods.

Leukaemia Care, Worcester, was given £900 by the company, which it used to buy two desktop computers to upgrade the much-needed CARE line service.

The national charity provides care and support for patients, families and carers during the difficult journey through the diagnosis and treatment of leukaemia, lymphoma or allied blood disorders.

Sun Valley's donation will help to upgrade the CARE Line centre, which is the UK's only dedicated free-phone telephone service.

"The CARE Line provides vital support for patients and families to chat about their feelings," said Oliver Mackie, events and sponsorship organiser for Leukaemia Care.

"Thanks to Sun Valley Foods we have now been able to upgrade the technical support behind the much-needed service."

Rosa Mazzei, office manager for Cargill Integra, a subsidiary of Sun Valley Foods, added: "Sun Valley is pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause within the Worcester area.

"It is reassuring to know that there are services like Care Line, which listen to patients and families when they most need support. We would like to wish the charity all the best for the future."
