Redditch United Ladies 4
Tyburn Aztecks Ladies 0
A hat-trick from Rachel Hopkins helped Redditch to a much-needed home win over Tyburn Aztecs.
The first half was played at a high tempo with both teams creating chances, but Redditch always had the upper hand. On 25 minutes, Lisa Hodges laid the ball back to Rachel Hopkins who placed the ball in the top right-hand corner to give Redditch a deserved half-time advantage.
The second half saw extensive Redditch pressure and Hopkins got her second with a bullet header from a Natalie Raggio-Taylor cross.
Midfielder Raggio-Taylor then continued her recent good form in front of goal when she ran onto a through ball from sub Louise Richardson and put a well-placed shot past the keeper. Hopkins then completed her hat-trick from the penalty spot when a Tyburn defender was judged to have handled the ball inside the box.
Manager Steve Tayler said: "We needed this win as a confidence boost."
Redditch now entertain Burlish Olympic on Sunday in the first round of the Herefordshire County Cup.
Redditch United Reserves beat Hayes Harriers 1-0, thanks to a coolly-taken penalty by keeper Becky Newman.
