Take care with cash as man is robbed
WORCESTER police have warned people to be extra cautious when extracting money from cashpoints after a man was robbed of £155 only minutes after using an automatic telling machine.
The incident occurred in the toilets at Cornmarket at 10.45am last Thursday, October 7.
The victim was head-butted and threatened before two men made off.
The first attacker is described as being dark-skinned and bald-headed and was addressed by the second person as "Scott".
There is no description of the second assailant.
Important
"Extracting cash from an automatic telling machine is now like second nature to most people," said a police spokesman.
"It is important, however, for everyone to have their wits about them when handling cash in public and not reveal any more about their transactions than is absolutely necessary.
"Money should be put away safely as soon as it is withdrawn, preferably without anyone standing nearby being able to see how much is involved and precisely where it has been stored."
If anyone saw the incident, or recognises the description, they should contact police on 08457 444888, quoting 62C/081004.
