I HAVE read that the deadline for full implementation of the recycling scheme in Bromsgrove is March 2005
It would seem that the council have a few problems of their own to sort out. Also they said that complaints from the public have dwindled well this might be because we are all waiting for the next election ?.
But as a customer I find the new bins cumbersome to handle, there is no storage space at the house, two weeks of household waste is causing a problem, having two bins (one green and the other grey) - the green will not be used in the winter, the collection of the contents of the recycling boxes does not meet demand and at present is unpredictable. It is going to cost me £1,500 to accommodate these bins.
I believe these issues should be sorted as soon as possible to prevent this useful recycling scheme failing.
My solution would be to have smaller manageable bins (general one grey) this would also help when the bins are at the kerbside collected every week, the boxes need to be half the size again but have wheels and then be collected fortnightly. The green bin could be used as a compost bin if green waste is part of the formula.
My problem now is do I convert my house to accommodate these monstrosities or just not bother and go to the local tip every week? This is what I am now having to do anyway.
How about a survey, say a text vote on if the new bins are 'ok' or 'rubbish' - then we will see if complaints are dwindling?
