THE first instalment of the proposed site for private house building at Webheath will consist of almost 100 houses, Redditch Urban District Council's Estates Committee was told on Monday.
Members saw a sketched plan of the proposed layout of the first corner of the site, laying behind Birchfield Road and Heathfield Road, but not stretching as far back as Church Road.
The surveyor, Mr E Buckley, said the county planning officer thought it might not be wise to develop the other site until they knew what demand would be.
The part shown in the sketch could be drained into existing sewers but a new sewer would be necessary in Church Road.
Councillor WJ Hunt said he understood there had already been some applications from builders who were anxious to build blocks of houses for sale.
He hoped that some of the plots would be allocated singly to enable people to develop as they wished.
