IN August, the club enjoyed an outing to the beautiful garden of the Drs Cox in Bidford.

Unfortunately, it was a rather wet day but it cleared up enough for members to enjoy a walk in the gardens.

The visit was followed by tea at president Margaret's home.

On September 14, there was a successful ''T for D'' afternoon tea at the home of past president Pat Grier.

It rained heavily in the morning but cleared up in time to enjoy tea in Pat and Maurice's lovely garden. Thanks to the large number who attended, more than £300 was raised for diabetes research.

At the September meeting, district chairman Shirley Clutton visited. She stressed the need for members to serve on the district committee and pointed out new members could act as voting delegates at district meetings, thus encouraging these members to attend and take part.

Shirley also gave advance notice of the Rotary/Inner Wheel thanksgiving service and flower festival to be held on May 15 at St Nicholas' Church, Kenilworth.

In response to her appeal for members to decorate the church, Sheila Girvan and Gill Huddlestone volunteered to help.

Shirley said she had enjoyed her visit and it seemed there was a good team spirit in the club. She is looking forward to meeting many members at district meetings and conference.
