SALFORD Priors Parish Council is to be granted more power, responsibility and funding after achieving a Quality Status Award.
The parish council is one of four local authorities in the county to have been designated the award, which was conferred in recognition the council is well run and working effectively for its community.
Council chairman Kim James said the nationally recognised Quality Status would allow it to have a stronger role in representing its people.
"It demonstrates initiatives we have taken and the standards we have achieved so far," he said. "We can now move forward to work in partnership with the district and county councils."
