INTEREST in Tenbury's old fire station, for sale at £200,000, is mounting.
Selling agent McCartneys says inquiries are coming in from domestic buyers and property investors.
When the brigade took over the building on November 28, 1936, the annual rent was £30. To celebrate, the fire-fighters were treated to a meal at the Bridge Hotel, presided over by the chairman of Fire Brigade Committee, Mr M M Rollo, supported by GW Maund, chairman of Tenbury Rural District Council.
The first call-out was a fire at Wooferton Saw Mills, arriving on a horse drawn tender.
It wasn't until April 1938 that a new Leyland fire engine was delivered.
