A WYRE FOREST teenager is quickly finding her way in endurance horse-riding after winning a prestigious international competition - despite getting lost half-way round.

Amy Blount, 15, from Bayton, near Clows Top, triumphed in the Dragon's Tail event at the Red Dragon Festival of Endurance at Builth Wells.

In the first day of competition, Blount, on her homebred horse Widget, came from behind to finish second by a nose in the 80km Little Dragon challenge.

For a teenager competing in an adult class at an international event, that was an achievement in itself and gave her a great chance of success in the second class.

Held the following day, part two saw her complete a further 40 km and at one stage it looked like she had wasted her good work by getting lost half-way around.

But she recovered and after an agonising wait for the results discovered that she had won.

It caps a successful year for Blount who recently finished 14th in the British Dressage U21 inter-regionals.

She was also named best Central Region C Squad rider and won her section at the Pony Club Area Novice Championships.
