STOURPORT golfer April Whetton and clubmate Carole Moore enjoyed the experience of a lifetime after qualifying from a field of tens of thousands to play at "the home of golf".
Whetton, who runs the Kings Arms pub at Areley Kings, and Moore finished fifth in the LGU Peugeot Coronation Foursomes final at St Andrews.
It represents a remarkable achievement for the pair who beat off competition from more than 35,000 golfers from 1,350 clubs to make the final.
Despite the extreme wet and windy conditions at the famous Scottish venue, the duo completed the Jubilee Course with a net score of 87.5.The tournament was won by Susan Dye and Jackie Hesketh from Delamere Forest Golf Club, in Cheshire.
"It was the experience of the lifetime and we felt quite at home there," said Whetton, who is the ladies captain at Sapey Golf Club.
"Everybody is proud of us and they've got some sort of presentation lined up for us.
"Now we've had the taste of it, myself and Carole are going to pair up again and try and get there again next year."
The duo's brilliant performance in the tournament, which is the largest lady amateur event in Britain, has earned them an invite to next year's Peugeot Championships at a venue to be decided.
