WYRE Forest Cycling Club's Joe Rowe has made a superb start to the cyclo cross season, winning his age group in the second round of the West Midlands league.
His success at Sanders Park, Bromsgrove, on Sunday, follows a third place in the first round at Elmdon the previous weekend.
Mick Gray also achieved third place in his age group in the second round, having been placed fourth in the first round. Elliot Dinsdale rode well to finish 18th over in the first round.
Chris Poole came 12th in the British Cyclings Bards Bash, finishing in the leading group after 50 riders started the 45 miles of tough racing on the undulating course.
Several club members will be taking part in the Cat and Fiddle Challenge, in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust on Sunday. The riders will tackle the 55-mile course through Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire, including the Peak District national park, and the Cat and Fiddle climb, which is seven miles long, then returning over Axe Edge with its 20 degree slopes.
Riding for WFCC will be Alan Griffiths, Sue Middup-Jones, Karl Davies, Dave Wood, Jonathon Higgins, Chris Morris and Richard Pedersen.
