BIDFORD Primary School won the inaugural Sainsbury's Seven-a-Side Trophy following a closely- fought final at the NFU Sports Club in Tiddington last Saturday.
It took an extra-time 'golden' goal from Connor Hensey to overcome a spirited Broad Street side who played their part in what was an entertaining and nail-biting climax.
Hensey struck three minutes into overtime after the two sides couldn't be separated at the end of a goalless contest.
Twenty-four teams from the Stratford area had entered the tournament, organised by the South Warwickshire Primary Schools Sports Association, with Lapworth and Bridgetown the other sides to reach the semi-finals.
Association secretary Bob Macvie paid tribute to the high standard of play and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
"I would like to thank the NFU Sports Club for once again providing us with facilities and a setting second to none," he declared.
Bidford will now represent the Stratford area in the Midlands finals later this year.
