IN an age of cash-strapped councils and extortionate Council Tax it seems absolutely crazy that Wyre Forest District Council intends to spend £3.16 million on a make-over of Kidderminster Town Hall, with a caf, theatre and other facilities.
I accept that improved access for disabled people and a lick of paint are necessary, but these will be at a relatively small cost.
Kidderminster is already well served with cafes, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs, and there are also several venues for theatrical productions - local schools and the Rose Theatre.
As for an additional £400,000 to be lavished on something called the Worcestershire Hub Project - has this been accurately costed and is there any great demand for such a facility?
Come on Wyre Forest District Council, before spending hard-earned Council Tax payers' money in this way, think again.
