CHADDESLEY Corbett Football Club suffered a 7-0 thrashing in their West Midlands League clash at home to Mahal.

David Yardley, chairman of Chaddesley, acknowledged the fact that the team were simply not good enough on the day, but felt every player had shown effort and commitment.

There were defensive mistakes and a conceded penalty, and Mahal took full advantage of every Chaddesley error.

Neil Lucas, Alec Stewart and Keith Bradley gave superb performances, and Paul Upton was solid in defence, while some of his younger team-mates struggled to cope with Mahal's attacking flair.

Following the management's recent criticism of absentee players, they were pleased to see 16 players turn up on Saturday, while those unable to attend did notify the manager in good time.

Saturday: Brereton Town v Chaddesley Corbett (2.45pm) - players should meet at the Land Oak for 12.30pm.
