Littleton 1,

Polesworth 1 (aet)

(Littleton won 4-2

on penalties)

LITTLETON continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought win in Saturday's Chall-enge Cup clash.

After an even opening period Littleton came closest on 40 minutes when a Billy Hiden shot from all of 30 yards hit a post with the keeper beaten.

At the start of the second half Littleton enjoyed their best spell of the afternoon and went close when Paul Jones shot just wide.

Two minutes later the same player broke the deadlock when he fired past the keeper after receiving Jon Gregory's pass.

However, six minutes later, the visitors drew level when a shot hit a post and then a defender before rebounding into the net.

Adrian Pritchard made a super save at the foot of the post as play swung from end to end before Gregory hit a post and Curtis Major powered a header straight at the keeper.

On into extra-time and Littleton lived dangerously as Rooke hit the bar with a superb half volley and later put a header against the same part of the framework.

In the penalty shoot-out, Beddoes, Greenwood, Edw-ards and Staley all scored while Polesworth's second kicker shot over and Pritchard saved the fourth shot.

Littleton, who now play Premier outfit Castle Vale, are at home again on Saturday to Fairfield Villa, ko 2.45pm.
