WORCESTER Wildthings are urgently appealing for new squad members ahead of the new West Midlands Ladies Basketball League season.
The team has been running for the last 17 years but they now fear failing to qualify into the league after a dwindling in numbers.
Wildthings currently have six members and team captain Julie Crisp, also the secretary, said the team is looking to boost the squad size to at least 12 within the next month.
She is looking for new members aged between 18 and 50 but insists not everybody has to take part in competition if they wish.
Crisp said: "We've seen squad numbers fall over the last few years because some have left the Worcestershire area and others have had children. We are fading away and really need to recruit new players.
"The league starts in November and we need more people if we are going to take part. With colleges and universities starting up again, we feel as though there might be a few students interested in giving it a go.
"We are not necessarily looking at established players. We would encourage those who want to learn how to play to get in touch, perhaps come along and take part in a training session. Not everybody has to take part in games if they don't want to."
Wildthings are training every Thursday evening at 7.30pm at Elgar High School, Bilford Road.
Anybody interested can contact Julie Crisp on 01905-770650.
